Managing Across Cultures

This illuminating presentation brings to light the differences in leadership styles, communication styles and conflict styles across cultures and how these differences can cause misperceptions, misinterpretations leading to misunderstanding in the workplace.  Mr. Cruz will address the common wrong ways to deal with the differences and lead experiential exercises designed to develop skills to effectively deal with the differences to prevent misunderstanding.  This presentation is insightful on the hidden diversity we bring to the work environment.

Distinguish the six patterns of nonverbal communication which include:

proxemics: the study of distance in nonverbal communication

haptics: the study of touching in nonverbal communication

Kinesics:  the study of movement such as facial and body gestures.

Oculesics: eye contact

Chronemics: how people in different cultures structure, interpret and  understand time dimensions

Paralinguistics: the use of voice qualifiers and vocalizations

See how the differences in non-verbal communication styles cause misperceptions, misinterpretation and lead to misunderstanding.
Recognize differences in values across cultures and how they impact the inter-cultural relationships in the corporate environment
Understand the sources of intercultural conflict and differences resolution styles.
Recognize the most common incorrect ways to deal with these differences
Learn effective skills for dealing with differences to avoid misperception, misinterpretations, misunderstanding and intercultural conflict.
